The Coast Is One Of My Favourite Studios
There’s something about the Sunshine Coast that just slows everything down - in the best way. Maybe it’s the early light rising over the ocean, or the way the hinterland still holds onto the mist early in the morning. Whatever it is, every time I’m shooting here, there’s this calm that settles in before I’ve even pushed the shutter.
I’ve shot in a lot of places. Photography, along with international work and travel in the snowsports industry, has led me to so many amazing and beautiful places around the world. After growing up here though, few spots match the way the Coast feels when it all lines up perfectly - golden light, sharp architecture softened by palm shadows, a quiet breeze moving through linen curtains and into homes. The architecture here don’t just show off design; it breathes it. There’s space. There’s warmth. There’s almost always some element of nature pushing into the frame, whether it’s the ocean a block away or a garden designed to blur the line between inside living and out.
Some of my favourite moments shooting here aren’t even when I’m holding the camera. It’s the pause. Sitting on the car, coffee in hand, waiting for the sun to hit just the right angle. Noticing the way the puppy dog has parked itself exactly where the light pools on the floor. It’s these small, unforced things that remind me why I do what I do, the details that I notice.
This place has a rhythm all its own. Every job up here feels like a mix of work and reconnection to the light, the environment, and the story each space holds.
That’s why I keep coming back. Camera in hand. Eyes open.
